Gas Up: May 8

Gas%20Up%20May%201No need to take a new photo for me, because gas costs exactly the same this week as last—$1.359/litre or $5.14/gallon.

Other gas price reports
Rey gives us a breakdown of the gas prices he encountered last weekend in New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania:

  • PA (where I live) $3.69 a gallon
  • NJ (Family Stop A) $3.47 a gallon
  • NJ (Refuel before entering NYC) $3.58 a gallon
  • NYC (Family Stop B: NYC and where I refused to refuel) $3.89 a gallon
  • NJ (Refuel before leaving NJ) $3.49 a gallon
Violet gives her report from Langley, BC where what you see is not necessarily what you get.

Our gas prices just went up to about $3.75. They will probably rise until after Memorial Day which seems to be the trend the past few years. It is interesting that years ago, our gas prices were typically $.20 to $.50 lower than California prices and now that so many Californians have moved here, our prices are equal or higher than Calif. prices. We blame everything on Californians! It's Dan Phillips fault!

[tap, tap, tap]...Is this thing on??? ;-)

Well, prices here shot up almost 20 cents a couple of days ago, so it's now between $3.50 and $3.55. And to think that I can remember my dad pulling into a full-service station, and paying 19 or 20 cents a gallon for someone else to pump the gas -- as well as clean the windshield and check the oil. Wow...

Ok, ok. Central US...Kansas. Good enough?

Perfect. My dad, btw, thinks Kansas is the center of the universe.

Here is an interesting article in today's Sydney Morning Herald speculating on the impact rising petrol prices are having on families and society. Let's hope we don't end up running on empty.

Well, prices here shot up almost 20 cents a couple of days ago...

And yesterday (May 9), it went up another 10 cents, so in less than a week it's gone from ~$3.35 to ~$3.65.
