Sunday's Hymn: Infant Holy, Infant Lowly

Infant holy, Infant lowly, for His bed a cattle stall;
Oxen lowing, little knowing, Christ the Babe is Lord of all.
Swift are winging angels singing, noels ringing, tidings bringing:
Christ the Babe is Lord of all.

Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story, tidings of a Gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, praises voicing, greet the morrow:
Christ the Babe was born for you.

Becky Pliego writes:

During this Advent season, we want to invite you to join us in considering and celebrating the excellencies of the names of our Lord. We want to see Him fully, closer as if to say; we long to know Him better, to worship and love Him more.

To help us do that, Becky has posted a series of pieces on the names of Christ, including posts from guest bloggers. You’ll find the posts in this series (so far) here. (I plan to contribute a post to the series, too. The next thing on my to-do list is to work on it.)

Thankful Thursday

I’m thankful for an uneventful week. Yes, I’m a stick-in-the-mud, so I love (and long for) an uneventful life. Lots has happened this fall and I can use a few weeks of nothing happening to catch my breath. This week was a good start, and I thank my heavenly Father for it.

At the same time, I’m thankful for a few upcoming fun events on my social calendar.

Yesterday my youngest son turned 22. He’s grown into a trustworthy and capable young man, and for that I am thankful.

I’m thankful for opportunities to serve during this Christmas season. I’m thankful for the good books I’ve been reading.

I’m thankful that God the Son came into our world to save us.

Throughout this year I’m planning to post a few thoughts of thanksgiving each Thursday along with Kim at the Upward Call and others.
