Petitionary Prayer: April 29

This is the last of the Petitionary Prayer posts because April is coming to an end.

  • I’m praying for youngest son, who will be flying out to Edmonton tonight and then driving back with his friend. They are fairly level-headed young men, but still—they are young men!  So I’m asking for wisdom for them and traveling mercies, too.
  • Darlene and Phil are in Sicily for this week and she asks for prayer:  “Phil is teaching theology! 8 hours a day — plus Q and A!”
  • Today, Dorothy is praying for herself: “I am asking God to take away my fearfulness and tendency to worry.”
  • Elaine asks for prayer in regards to a big change for her husband and for her family, too.
  • Update: Julana is praying for someone she knows with pancreatic cancer. She prays that she senses the presence of Jesus with her today.

Petitionary Prayer: April 25

This month’s theme here at Rebecca Writes is petitionary prayer. On Tuesdays and Fridays throughout April, I’ll be posting one request I am making of God, and I’m inviting you to join me. You’ll find all the details here.

  • This is a time of transition in this house: new seasons, new projects, new jobs, etc.  I’m praying for wisdom and energy in regards to those things.
  • Lisa Nunley is praying for her husband:
The stress he is under as an anesthesiologist. The balance of resting in God’s sovereignty when a person has lost their life in surgery… He begins to think heavily about that person… their family, the loss, their pain, was that person a believer?
  • Update: Kim in ON is praying for both of her parents because her father is ill.
  • Update 2: Dorothy is praying that God would provide a summer job for her daughter.
  • Update 3: Candy is in the area experiencing all the earthquakes. I imagine is quite disconcerting to be experiencing such an unusual natural phenomenom.
We have been having swarms of earthquakes in our area, and they are getting worse. We have had some register approximately 3.1 or so and now last night one registered 4.7. We are in a high seismic area but this is very unusual.

  • Today I prayed for two people who are have very serious illnesses. I prayed for healing, but I also prayed that God draw them closer to him and give them (and their families) strength to face whatever is coming their way.
  • Update: Dorothy asks that “God would keep me sensitive to His gentle whisper in my days.”
  • Update 2: Jane has been praying for a “boy in my daughter’s second grade class has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease. It’s in stage IV. I have been asking the Lord to heal this boy and sustain his family.”
  • Update 3: Lisa is praying
for a family that lost there mother this week. She drowned in the bathtub while she was having a seizure. No one was home at the time. Her children attend my children’s small Christian school. It is a university-model school in which the children go to school 2 times a week and then the mother homeschools them with the material they learned at the school on the other 3 days. This tragedy happened on a homeschool day… the next day was to be a school day. Instead, the family attended her memorial service this morning. There are 2 children, a kindergartener and a 1st grader. They are an incredible Christian family. Please pray for them.

  • Today I’m praying for me, that I’ll have the wisdom to keep my mouth shut when that’s what’s called for, and the wisdom to say the right thing when that’s what’s called for. And that’s about all I’m saying about that!  Update: Dorothy and Lisa are piggybacking on this request.

  • Update: And pray for Carla, who is sick.

Petitionary Prayer: April 8

This month’s theme here at Rebecca Writes is petitionary prayer. On Tuesdays and Fridays throughout April, I’ll be posting one request I am making of God, and I’m inviting you to join me. You’ll find all the details here.

  • Today I prayed for youngest son, who is in his last week of classes. He is juggling several big assignments that are due in the next few days and is feeling the pressure. I’m asking that God give him the motivation, energy and clear thinking he needs to do what is required of him. Essentially, I’m asking God to rescue him from a pickle of his own making. Then, too, I’m asking that God teach son what he needs to learn from this experience.
  • Staci at Writing and Living is asking for “the energy to get all the closets cleaned out.”
  • Pam asks that we pray for her health:
I am down with pneumonia … Dr.wanted me in hospital but I asked to stay home. I go to his office for breathing treatments, on steroids, antibiotics, etc. Finally starting to breathe easier. Missing work and don’t have much energy. I am asthmatic which compounds things. Haven’t even been blogging, just reading. Prayers would be appreciated.

Prayer Request

John Schroeder of Blogotional asks for prayer for his parents, who were in a serious car accident this afternoon.

Please pray for them, at their advanced years recovery will not be straightforward, and in my father’s case it remains uncertain, though likely.
