Recipe Round Up Information Page

recipe%20round%20up.JPGWhat is the Recipe Round Up?
The Recipe Round Up is a monthly collection of  posted recipes collected from participating blogs and hosted at a volunteer host’s blog. The round up is held in the middle of each month with the exact date of the round up determined by the host. The category of recipes collected changes from month to month, with the volunteer host having the last say in regards to the category.

That’s sounds a little confusing. For me, seeing is understanding. Could you show me an example of the Recipe Round Up?
Sure can! Have a look at two previous Round Ups:
Okay, I get it, I think, and I’d like to participate in the next one. How do I do that?
Simply watch this blog (Rebecca Writes) for more info on next month’s Recipe Round Up when it becomes available.

What if I see a good recipe in the current month’s category posted on a blog other than mine? Can I contribute that to the round up?
Of course. The more recipes the merrier! And you’d be paying the blogger a big compliment by recommending their posted recipe.

And what about after this month’s round up?
We have no hosts or categories determined yet for the coming months. Would you like to volunteer?

What if I’d like to host an upcoming round up?
That’d make me very, very happy! Just volunteer by commenting at this link. It’s a first-come, first-served sort of thing, and as you can see, we need hosts from March onward.

And once I’ve been confirmed as a host, what do I do?
Sometime around the first of the month in which you are hosting, post instructions for participating on your blog, then post a link to your instructions at this link.  I’d promote your round up, and hopefully many others will, too.

Are there any guidelines as to what date I should choose for my round up?
Well, your own schedule is the most important factor. Pick a weekday (No weekends, please!) that works for you. All things equal, the middle of the month is best, and Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are usually higher blog traffic days, so consider hosting your round up on one of those day if it will work for you..

Do I have to come up with my participation instructions from scratch?
Nope.  Feel free to copy the instructions from one of the previous hosts and change them to suit. Here is an example of how it’s been done: Recipe Round Up Reminder.

Who made that cute little graphic? Can I use it on my blog when I host?
Karen of Simply A Musing Blog designed it, and you are right—it is very cute, isn’t it? And yes, by all means use it!  It’ll give all the round ups a uniform look. Consider using it on the recipe you enter, too, or when you are promoting the round up.

I’d love to have a printed copy of the recipes. My computer’s not in the kitchen, you know.
Kim of Hiraeth has already thought of that. She’s compiling each separate round up into folders (Word Documents) which will end up in a Blogger’s Cookbook and she’ll email them to you if you ask. You’ll find her contact information in the sidebar at Hiraeth.

I’m having trouble with the measurements and ingredient names on some of the recipes. Can you help with that?
The Recipe Round Up is a collection of recipes from bloggers world-wide, and some countries may use measurments and ingredient names that are different than what you use. Kim of Hiraeth has a British/American Recipe Ingredients Conversion Chart that should help clear things up for you.

Is there a list of past Recipe Round Up posts?
You read my mind, didn’t you? Here’s the list for 2007, and I’ll begin a list for 2008 soon.
Anything else I should know?
If you are hosting, it’s good if you can provide some way for people to contribute recipes during the day of the round up, either by manually updating your post with new entries as they come in throughout the day, or by using an automatic widget, like the ones at Mr. Linky

That’s all the questions I can think of now, but what if I have another one?
Go ahead and ask in the comments at this link.
